A community service
Domino’s sees itself as a ‘nocal’ business – a local business with national backing. As part of this, we encourage all our franchisees to deliver more.
Franchisees who want to expand and have more stores must show that they are actively contributing to, and providing support for, their local communities.
As well as providing local support for Special Olympics, our national charity, our franchisees support a range of local charities in various ways. Our stores often support local schools and other groups by providing free pizzas at events, or by selling pizza with the money going to charity.
In addition, we have a quarterly Delivering More award for the franchisee or store that has gone above and beyond the call of duty to support their local community or help a customer in need. Recent winners include two drivers at our Maidenhead store who, during the snow in early 2010, delivered shopping as well as pizza to a stranded, sick customer and the team at our Livingston store who held a collection to purchase a flat screen television for the family room at their local hospital.
We actively encourage local sports clubs to approach their local store for sponsorship and, while we can’t support every one, there are many local football teams and other groups that are supported by their local Domino’s.
Finally, one of our most popular community activities is the school tour. We take groups of local schoolchildren into the store to talk about food and let them make their own pizzas. These tours are very well received by teachers and pupils alike and give children the chance to see a real business in action.
